Premiere Vision Paris - September 2016

Première Vision Paris announced that its September 2016 edition
welcomed a total of 56,475 international trade visitors to view the latest on offer from 1,898 exhibiting companies.  The fair was held at Parc des Expositions, north Paris in Villepinte, September 13 - 16 2016.

(September 2016) There are discussions often among members of the fashion and textiles industry on whether trade fairs are still relevant in today's ever challenging global economic environment.

Yet it is through strategic trade fairs that the industry leaders, influencers, movers and shakers can meet and exchange ideas, and such 'meeting of minds' would be instrumental in helping various members of the industry to cope and tackle the challenges that they face in their everyday business life.

Thus it is very encouraging that international trade fairs events continue to draw great numbers as it is crucial for great minds to meet and get a first-hand feel of the state of the affairs, and give support and contribution to each other's business.

Première Vision Paris Organisers were pleased with the success of the fair, saying the overall visitor figures remained unrivalled in the sector, thus confirming the dominant influence and leadership of the unique PV brand among the global players of professional fashion-industry events.

The released figures represented an improvement over the February 2016 edition, with growth in both attendance (+ 2.7%) and the number of exhibitors (+ 10%).  Some 73% of the trade visitors came from 126 countries outside France.

While compared with the September 2015 edition, the September event this year showed a slight decline in exhibitors' number (- 1.3%) and in attendance (- 8.8%), the positioning of PV Paris is still solid, taking into account the political tension and security concerns impacted on the French, and with the challenge of weaker market growth in emerging markets such as China and also in Russia and Brazil, and a downturn in global textile-clothing and leather consumption (- 0.3% in 2015).

Première Vision Paris prides itself on its ability to bring together the full diversity of the fashion industry, from decision makers to creatives, journalists, buyers and suppliers, independent designers, small fashion houses to international groups and retailers, chain stores and luxury houses, medium to high-end fashion and accessory brands.

Here are some of the comments collected by PV Paris from visitors at the September fair:-
"It's the perfect event for a "mixing of minds". A place where minds can connect despite the variety of cultures and languages. Here, the language of creation is the same everywhere. People understand each other."Zeynep Tosun, designer of the eponymous label (Turkey)
"I spend two full days at Première Vision and my schedule is super busy! Beyond meeting withsuppliers, it's also a chance to load up on newstyles and trends in the forums." Avalanche Collections (Belgium)
"The consolidation of universes - especially in hall 6 — has made things easier for me. I find it more readable and more intelligent. I also liked the signage, with the colour codes. Traffic is more fluid than before." A designer at Ghislain Fine Arts
"For the past several years, we've noticed areal evolution at Première Vision Paris. Thesegmentation of its different textile universes ismuch improved, and we have a lot of upstreaminformation. (…) It would be very foolish not tovisit the trend forums; their samples are so tied to what's happening at the show and in the market." Peter Trainor, creative director of Max’n Chester(USA)
"There is nothing better than Première Vision Paris to meet everyone who counts in fashion. It's a key event to share inspiration and information for both the UK and Europe."David Madaher, Print Designer, Sainsbury’s Tu(UK)

The new products were displayed and showcased in informative and inspirational forums erected throughout the six key segments: Fabrics, Yarns, Accessories, Designs, Leather, and Manufacturing.

To stimulate visitors' interest and creativity, PV Paris presented the exhibitors' newest, most innovative material developments, displayed through 15 fashion areas and forums across more than 5,000 sqm of special areas. PV Paris' fashion team - under Pascaline Wilhelm ( Fashion Director, Première Vision) and Claude Vuillermet (Fashion Director, Première Vision Leather), meticulously selected the most inspiring ranges to put on show.

For the Autumn/Winter 2017 - 18 season, the key developments are generally divided into the following themes:- In the shadows; A longing for comfort; Think Big; Being Rational; A New Skin; Heaps of Shine and Welcome Irony.  All new trends and the best of the season can be seen on the dedicated web-page - Fashion Live covering all disciplines.

In the main Forum (Première Vision Fabrics), Fashion directions, new textiles and colours - autumn winter 2017-18 fabrics were on display.  Dense suppleness is a key focus of the season, enhancing elegant fabrics with full, dense, pliant handles, perfect for draping, enveloping.

In terms of patterns, there is a play on fantasy, from darkly romantic flowers and large-scale motifs to distorted checks and offbeat, new scales and colourways to give fabrics a new twist.  Along with checks - for jackets and coats - mills take a step away from tradition, and there are jacquards and lace for feminine takes, as well as camouflage patterns in unexpected colourways.

A real surprise for the next winter season are multi-coloured aspects for both the men’s and women’s markets.   PV fashion team reported that buyers like dark and multicolour fabrics, far removed from gaily-coloured looks. They enjoyed this different way of working tone-on-tones, and the secret richness brought by colour depth.  The autumn winter 1718 colour range is based on delicate, austere, airy tones, arising to a concentrate of irreverent multicolour.  The two main themes open complementary directions where colours meet without neutralizing each other.

 A LINE OF SILENT ENERGIES
A line rooted in air, an atmosphere inhabited by synthetic lights, deep shadows, enigmatic substances and digital flesh. Colours initiate a sensitive dialogue between pragmatism and poetry, the abstract and the human, technology and the senses.

 A CONCENTRATION OF IMPERTINENT INTENSITIES
Effusive, happy colours in playful and compact constructions brush up against deliberately dingy shades. Cheerfully insolent frictions multiply between paleness and intensity, between dusty tones and saturated hues, between deceptively complementary colours.

The Trends Gallery (Première Vision Leather) showcased material and colour directions for leathers and furs.

The Première Vision Designs Forum  for decorative and textile design highlighted key prints and
designs for autumn winter 2017-18.  This is where textile designs break out of the existing framework and plunge into the universe to interpret and re-invent patterns and prints for a wide range of uses.  A wide range of possibilities is opened up to accommodate geometric patterns - squares, diamonds and circles - as well as fantastical florals, pictorial references, stylised letters and extravagant, surreal patterns.

A key pavilion was Texprint from the UK which as in previous September events, brought 24 design graduates from some of the most sought-after universities and institutions. The textile  designers brought their innovative works that were applicable for all sectors of the industry, covering fashion, interiors, furniture, product and automotive designs, and visual merchandising.
